
Dividends are paid as a reward for investors who have trust in the company. Generally, dividends are paid by stable and consistent companies. Growth companies normally keep the profits they have to reallocate the money within the company. This helps them grow their business. Once Growth companies become mature companies they will start to pay dividends. Historically, investors bought stock for the purpose of receiving dividends. It was believed that the underlying principle of a company is to pay dividends. Nowadays, investor sentiment has changed. The investor now believes that the purpose of a company is to increase his or her net worth. Beyond doubt dividends and capital gains are a source of financial boost for an investor.
